What does VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) even mean? Generally understood, it is a volatile corrosion inhibitor. VCI is used as a temporary anti-corrosion agent for metallic materials.

In the vapor phase or condensation, the evaporating substance acts on the material.

The VCI substances transfer their effect to the metal surface, from where they are absorbed and form a protective layer. After unpacking the workpiece, the inhibitor evaporates without leaving any residue. This process is a great advantage compared to oils, which can be used as a protective layer, which has to be removed again with great effort.

Advantages of the VCI method:

– Since the gas from the VCI paper also penetrates holes and cavities, these areas are also protected.

– The cover does not have to be welded

– At the end of the transport or storage, the packaged goods do not have to be cleaned and are immediately available.
